Summary: A 16-year-old Ben Falls In Love with a new girl in his class but will his belief in "The Blue Lady " come between a budding romance

"Over the fence and out, over the fence and out," Ben repeated these words like a mantra. He was almost at the fence when he heard Brin yell,
"Ben Help Me!!!" he was scared and didn’t know what to do, in his view he had 2 options, help Brin and maybe get captured or run and make it to the fence.
"Forget this," he thought. What was he to lose? He was a soldier and he needed all his siblings at his side. Ben turned and ran towards Brin. Her foot was caught on a branch of a tree, and the Manticore Guards where closing in on him,
"Grab my hand Brin," that was an order and Brin knew it. She grabbed his hand, and he pulled her up,
"Thanks Ben," she shot at him,
"No problem sis.... Now over the fence and out," he replied. Admittedly Brin never really liked following orders. But had they stayed at Manticore, she would have made one hell of a soldier.
That evening, 12 of the 15 that originally escaped made it over the fence.........


Ben woke up in the comfortable bed of the place he now called home. It had been 6 years since the escape, and it was his 16th birthday. He dressed quickly and ran downstairs to his "parents"
"Morning Mom, Morning Dad," he said chirpily.
"Happy Birthday sweetie," his mum said,
"Now birthday boy, what’ll it be? Pancakes? Waffles? Peanut butter on toast?"
"Well seeing as it’s my birthday, I was thinking maybe we could just have cereal," he smiled,
"Pancakes it is then,"
"Thanks. Can you make it quick though, you know I have to go to school." School in Ben’s opinion was a softer version of Manticore. Only at school, people had names not designated numbers. His number was X5-493, his older brother Zack was X5-599, and his favourite sister Max’s number was X5-452. Ben sighed. He wondered what the others where doing now; he couldn’t help but wonder whether the ordinary people had found a cure to Max, Brin and Zack’s shakes. Strangely enough over the last few days, he had been feeling strange like he was getting the shakes. He shook this notion off and carried on with his breakfast.

About half an hour later, Ben arrived at school feeling mature and happy. Life now was good and as far as he knew it was going to stay that way. Little did he know his life was going to change, more for the better.
He arrived at class and took his usual spot next to Jake and Lewi.
"Mornin’ Boys what’s new,"
"That girl over there," grinned Lewi.
"What girl?"
"You don’t got eyes now Ben?" laughed Jake.
"That one over there," he pointed out
"Whew," Ben whistled. The new girl looked over at them and someone whispered in her ear. She smiled and approached Ben,
"Hey, I hear your name’s Ben," she said.
"You hear right. And you are?"
"My friends just call me Angel,"................
